Quality Function Deployment is an effective technique and approach of quality management, which has become prevalent worldwide in these years. QFD was originally invented in Japan in the 1970s and was developed and improved in the developed countries of Europe and America in the 1980s. Now, QFD is applied in a variety of product manufacturing, software deployment and services.

With the prevalence of development of six sigma management, QFD is concerned by more and more enterprises. QFD is a key tool for practicing DEMAIC and DFSS, improving customer satisfaction and obtaining competitive advantage.

ICQFD was founded in 1995 and the tenet of ICQFD is to promote QFD concept and the updated research achievements of QFD. The first International Symposium on Quality Function Deployment (ISQFD) was held in Tokyo in 1995. After that, ISQFD had been successfully held in America, Swede, Australia, Brazil, Germany, Mexico and Turkey. Every year, experts on QFD theories and application attend to ISQFD and the themes of ISQFD cover new products deployment, production, decision-making, logistics and supply chains, software engineering and service management. The 14th ISQFD will be held in International Convention Center of Jiuhua SPA & Resort, Beijing from September 25th to 26th, 2008.
